Obtaining Feedback from Parents and Carers

Safeguarding Children

ATTENDANCE AND DUTY OF CARE

We appreciate that attendance at this stage of your child’s education is not compulsory and you are within your rights to keep your child at home to have a quiet day, go for a day out or take them shopping etc. but we ask that, you please inform us that this is what you are doing. Failure to notify Pre School will result in firstly a text message will be sent to you. If we do not hear from yourself within 10 minutes we will telephone you to clarify the reason for your child’s absence. If you do not reply or you cannot be reached then we will contact the emergency contacts, provided on your registrations forms. If we are still unable to ascertain why your child is absent from Pre School then we are obliged to notify the Children’s Social Care Team for their advice and intervention as we have a Duty of Care to ensure your child’s well-being and safety.

Attendance is a Key marker of child welfare and as such, monitoring of attendance is viewed as one aspect of good Safeguarding practice. Although your child, legally does not have to attend Pre School, Halton Authority has a target of 98% attendance, which we encourage our children to aspire to. We do recognise and understand, that on occasion’s children will be absent due to sickness, holidays and special occasions etc.
